Backyard goldfish koi pond in the spring and first feeding of the season
Here is my pond in the beginning of spring 2009. The hardy plants are just starting to grow. The fish are swimming around more now and are ready for their spring food. I feed them Cheerios in the spring and fall because they are low in protein and the fish can digest them better since the water is only around 55 degrees. When the water temperature rises, I will feed them summer food that is high in protein. I am happy to say that there were no fish losses this winter! Our puppy Lacey makes an appearance also =D

~ Hello ~
How are you ? I’m okay
you seem to be rich lol
great place :]
So you mean the fishs stayed frozen in the water alive ? if yes that amazing
Woo, beautiful pond and fish!
The pond and the landscaping is absolutely breathtaking. I love the large fish….what kind is it? Did you have this built….if so, who did it? I would love to have one.
Hi! We are all fine. Hope you are well. Thanks for your nice comments, as always =D
The fish hibernate at the bottom of the pond all winter. The ice freezes only on the top (about 2 inches) so the fish stay safe on the bottom since the pond is 3 1/2 feet deep =D
Thank you so much for your lovely comments!
Wow, thank you so much! The large white fish is a butterfly koi. He/she is about 16 years old now! The local guy who did all of our landscaping also did the pond. The pond was first, then we designed everything around it. If you take a look at my other pond videos from last season, you will see it looking a lot nicer than right now, it is just getting started for the new season =D
that pond is beautifull motorvates me so much i might build a new pond this year
Thank you so much! I would love to see a vid of your new pond =D
Aw, that is stunning! Very nice!
Thank you! The pond looks a lot better in the summer. Check out my other vids =D
Your pond is gorgeous, and the large butterfly koi is spectacular! what a character he seems to be… I could sit and watch him all day long. thanks so much for posting this video!
Thank you very much! I am happy that you enjoyed this video. We try to sit by the pond as often as we can to enjoy watching the fish. The white butterfly koi is quite entertaining, and he/she loves to eat out of my hand =D
que hermosoooooo felicidades
Cool video! (5 – STARS!)
Thanks for posting it!
I help run a free Pond share website.
It would be great to have some more pond people join in and share their pictures, videos, and stories.

@lacey41908 my pond had a algea bloom in summer can i take all the algea out and do a whole water change and then acclimate the fish again or just scrape of the algea
@aquamaniacZ I would not do a complete water change, it would not be beneficial to your fish and the algae may start all over again. I just remove as much algae as I can and as soon as the hardy plants start to grow, the algae will die on its own. So, try to add as many plants as you can without them taking over the pond. Good luck!
This is beautiful. That one fish is huge. I’m starting out and have a tiny fountain pond. Could you check my video and offer any advice? I ask questions in my description.
Nice to see the off-season video of your beautiful pond. FIsh are stunning. Cheerios? Who knew? Sure seems to work for you. Thanks for showing the size and depth of the pond in this video.
stunning pond full marks.
